Lot 13

1787 Fugio Cent Newman 11-X Rarity-4 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. A STATES UNITED variety. Slightly glossy light steel brown and frosty tan with peeps of faded mint color remaining in protected areas on the obverse. The only defects are a few small planchet voids including a small but rather deep fissure at the first 7 in the date and a broken line of smaller ones at the right end of the base of the sundial, all as struck. MDS showing strong die clashmarks on the obverse and a pair of fine die cracks on the reverse but without any swelling on the obverse. A high-grade example of a variety that was not found in the Bank of New York Hoard; this example apparently nicer than the Newman plate coin for the die state. Listed on page 87 in the "Redbook."
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Realized $3,760
