Lot 126

Pair of Phoenician Glass Beads Each With Two Faces ca. 6th-5th Century B.C. Striking and Unusual Treasures. Two rod formed suspension beads each with two faces on opposing sides. One bead's pair of faces have striking yellow glass eyes giving them an almost alien look. The other bead's faces are created in white glass, almost like masks, with the black glass underneath creating the eyes. Again, an otherworldly look that is compelling. In exceptionally choice condition. 13 x 7½ mm

Reference: Early Ancient Glass, The Toledo Museum of Glass, page 90 #49-51. Estimated Value $900 - 1,500
From the collection of Nancy and Earl Keefer.
