1821 N-1 R1 PCGS AU Detail Altered Surface. Glossy dark olive brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning on highpoints of the portrait. The surfaces are smooth and essentially void of marks, but the toning is darker than you like to see on a piece that is this sharp. We do not see evidence that the surfaces were "Altered." E-MDS before any die cracks but there is minor crumbling in the dentils left of star 7. Our grade is EF40. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36706. Estimated Value $750 - UP
