Beecher, Henry Ward -- 1880 ALS. (1813-1887) American clergyman, social reformer, and abolitionist. Autograph letter signed, one page, 6¾ x 4¼", written on Brooklyn, N.Y. stationery but date-lined Twin Mountain House N.H., Aug. 29, 1880. To an unidentified woman regretting that he can't give her information about one of his sermons. In part, "I do not remember it - nor do I know whether it was ever published; or, if it was, where it can be obtained." Fine condition. Beecher was the brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. Estimate Value $100 - UP
