Lot 1235
1903-O. PCGS graded MS-65. A particularly satin white Gem. Before 1962, the ’03-O was believed to be the rarest Morgan dollar in Uncirculated condition in the entire series! Then along came a previously unknown government hoard of Uncirculated 1903-O Morgans. When released the coins became only moderately scarce in mint-state grades but were now affordable by everyone instead of a select few wealthy collectors. Since most of the circulated 1903-O coins were melted over the years the 1903-O silver dollars in Circulated grades cost nearly as much as mint-state pieces (PCGS # 7286) . Estimated Value $500 - 525.
