Lot 119

1808 C-3 R1 PCGS graded AU58. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Satiny luster covers the planchet and it shows no trace of friction on the highest points of the devices. However, there is a mint-made planchet flake at the top of the E in LIBERTY, and it is obvious to the unaided eye. Otherwise the only mark is a barely visible spot of planchet impurity hidden in the drapery folds at the bust tip. M-LDS, Manley state 4.0, with a die crack from the rim through the I in UNITED to the leaves below. Only traces of dentils remain visible on both sides and the reverse is rotated 15 degrees CCW. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer, 2 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 64+ for the variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Superior 4/16/2006:194-The Green Tree Collection.
