Paul Tibbets, Pilot of The Enola Gay and the Bombing of Hiroshima: 20 Signed Photos by Tibbets, 17 Different Images (1915-2007) Paul Warfield Tibbets, a brigadier general in the United States Air Force whose name will forever live in history as the pilot who flew the B-29 Superfortress known as the Enola Gay. On August 6, 1945 "Little Boy", the first of two atomic bombs used during WWII, was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Here an outstanding collection of 20 signed (mostly) 8 x 10" photos with one in color totaling 17 different images. While all the photos are modern re-strikes, there are photos here we have never seen signed by him previously. Most come with photocopied images of him signing the photos at various events. All are in excellent condition, with his signature bold and steady on every piece. More signed Tibbets photos and commemorative covers, including signatures of fellow crew members, can be found in the Aviation Section. Phenomenal collection for collectors and dealers alike. Estimated Value $600 - UP
