1893 Machinery Hall Medal, Pressed Wood. Eglit-149, 91mm. Made of pressed Black Walnut, this unusual medal features Machinery Hall. There a number of different pressed wood medals that were issued during the exposition for various buildings and exhibitors. This very high relief medal has no flaws--no rub, friction, chips, cracks, stains, contact marks or discoloration like most others. And the wood is light, with slight reddish hue and strong grain, which gives this high relief medal even more dimension. Overall, it is an exceptional medal. If graded like other medals, it would be MS67 or better.
Estimated Value $50-UP.
The Hoffman Collection.
