Castro, Fidel -- Signed Certificate of Merit (1926-2016) Cuban revolutionary and politician who governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and as President from 1976 to 2008. Document signed "Fidel Castro Ruz" (his full name was Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz), one page, 11½ x 8¼", no place, no date. Recognizing Gregorio Laza for his "outstanding participation in the celebrations for the victorious entry of the Revolution into the New Millenium." The color certificate has a quote by Cuban hero José Martí and is signed in blue felt tip by Castro. Matted with a 7 x 5" photo of Castro and a name plaque to an overall size of 17½ x 20¾".
