1878 $5 Liberty. SEGS graded Proof 65 Deep Cameo. A well struck example with glowing golden-orange surfaces and excellent cameo contrast. We note a few trivial hairlines scattered about in the unprotected fields, none of which are really worthy of note. It is only when great collections are sold that one has the opportunity to acquire this important issue. A major rarity in proof condition as only 20 were minted of which less than 9 still survive.
