Lot 114

1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 PCGS graded XF40. Glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly lighter brown toning on the highest points of the devices. No corrosion, only minor contact marks scattered over both sides and a bit of dirt nestled into protected areas around the devices. The notable marks are a couple tiny nicks on the top of the L in LIBERTY, a tiny scuff the breaks the toning near the dentil tips right of that Y, a long nick on the chin, and a dull rim nick over the second A in AMERICA. MDS, Manley state 3.0, with a strong die break connecting TY to the rim above. The date and legends are all strong and the overdate feature is clear. A nice example, clearly superior to the Manley plate coin for the die state. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF30. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 5; 5 finer, 1 in 45, 1 in 53, 2 in 55, 1 in 64+ for the variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
