Ferdinand V (1452-1516) King of Spain; sponsor of Christopher Columbus. Document Signed ("I the King) in Spanish, September 21, 1514, folio. The King writes to Don Miguel to inform him that he is according certain civil and legal privileges to the order of St. John on the island of Majorca. He tells Don Miguel to make sure that nothing prevents his orders from being carried out. Matted with an engraving of Ferdinand and framed to an overall size of 16½ x 21½ in. The marriage of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabelle of Castile united Spain. The year 1492 saw "The Catholic Monarchs" not only sponsoring Christopher Columbus, but also expelling the Muslims (Moors) and the Jews from Spain.
