Rush, Benjamin -- ALS Acknowledging Receipt of Payment For Medical Services (1745-1813) Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania; Surgeon General of the Continental Army; and U.S. Mint Director. Autograph letter signed twice, once at the end ("Benjn Rush") and once in the text ("Dr. Rush"), one page, on laid watermarked paper, 8 x 6¼", no place (Philadelphia), Dec. 9, 1795. The letter says, "Dr. Rush hereby acknowledges the liberal compensation for medical services, rendered to Mr. Henry Clymer, this day received in full of all demands." With holograph address leaf, "Mr. Henry Clymer," with seal remnant. Light soiling, irregular toning, and repair to seal tear on address leaf. About fine. Pennsylvania Signer George Clymer had a son named Henry (1767-1830); this is likely he. Estimate $2,500 - 3,000
