Gold Crown of five shillings, 1650, 50 struck over 49, no stops on obverse, English shield within laurel and palm branch, legends in English language, initial mark sun, THE COMMONWEALTH OF ENGLAND, Rev. English and Irish shields, value .V. above, beaded circle and legend surrounding, date at top, GOD. WITH. VS., weight 2.25g (cf.Schneider 358; N.2719; S.3212; Fr.271; KM.393.1). Attractively toned, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS63+, the only piece of this date so far graded at both services, very rare indeed. Estimate Value $16,000 - UP
