Mercury Program, 1959, Deke Slayton's "Mercury Program Training Notes". A thick 3-ring binder containing several hundred pages of handouts and handwritten notes given to and written by Slayton during his Mercury Program training at Langley Field, VA and other places from June 1959 on.

UNFORTUNATELY, the book got caught in one of the periodic floods that have taken place in Houston, TX over the years and appears to be fairly extensively water damaged. We strongly recommend that the lucky successful buyer immediately send the book to the Huntington Library Conservation/Restoration Department in Pasadena, CA (manuscripts@huntington.org). They are one of the leading organizations in the country for this type of work and will be able to work wonders in restoring the book.

Even in its existing condition, this volume offers tantalizing glimpses of the training the seven Mercury astronauts underwent to become America's groundbreaking space pioneers. This is the first -hand account of this training to come on the market.Viewing is strongly recommended, but extreme care must be exercised during the process.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 35,000.
Ex. the Donald "Deke"Slayton Family collection.
