Numerius Fabius Pictor, moneyer. AR Denarius minted at Rome, c. 126 BC. Helmeted head right of Roma. Reverse: Q. Fabius Pictor seated left, inscribed shield at side. Fabia 11; Cr. 268/1b; Syd. 517a. Scarce. Unusually attractive; toned; Superb Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $400 - UP
There are two varieties of this type — one with a control letter in lower right field, the other without the letter. Since the top of a letter is just visible below the chin on the obverse, we are attributing it to Crawford 268/1b.
