Lot 104

1807 C-1 R1 Repunched 7 PCGS graded AU55. Frosty steel brown and chocolate blending to darker olive brown in protected areas on both sides, especially on the reverse. Underlying flowline luster covers the fields and protected areas on the obverse. This piece shows very little if any wear, just a touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The die crack that meanders across the top of the 7 is clear and nearly half of each side shows some dentils, although many of the dentils are weak. The repunching on the 7 is clear. Struck with the reverse rotated 45 degrees CCW from the usual head-to-foot die orientation. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 11 finer, 6 in 58, 3 in 62, 1 in 63+, 1 in 64 for the variety. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
