Borglum, Gutzon (1867-1941). American sculptor and artist primarily associated with one of the greatest public works projects in U.S. history, The Mount Rushmore National Park Memorial. Typed letter signed ("Gutzon Borglum"), as President of the International Sporting Club of New York, Inc., 1 page, on International Sporting Club letterhead, 7½ x 9½", New York City, January 5, 1922. Borglum requests a loan of funds in order for the association to purchase property. Excellent, bold signature of the acclaimed artist. Estimated Value $200 - 300

Max, Peter (1937-). Jewish German-born American illustrator and graphic artist renowned his use of psychedelic shapes and color palettes and the pop-art style of his work. Book signed "Peter Max 96" on the half-title page of Peter Max Paints America, Acropolis Books LTD., Washington, D.C., 1976. Approx. 200 pp. (unpaged), padded pictorial cloth (no dust jacket as issued), 11 x 8½", with beautiful color reproductions, in slipcase with illustration. Book fine; slipcase very good with minor intermittent scuffing and shelfwear. This handsome work commemorates the U.S. Bicentenniel by reproducing the works of art commissioned by ASEA of Sweden to recognize and celebrate the historic bond between the people of both countries.
