  1854-O $3 Gold. EF-45. This coin was struck from lapped dies as some of the letters are weak. Only 24,000 were struck, and few are available in high grades. This one has some luster in the lettering and nice copper toning around the edge.

  1860-S $3 Gold. Sharpness of VG-8. Only 4,408 struck in San Francisco in 1860, as demand was not too great. This one has numerous surfaces ticks and faint scratches, and was polished to an unnatural brightness. A filler, with a strong date and mintmark. Inspection mandatory.

  1863 $3 Gold. AU-58. A few trivial rim nicks, and struck from clashed dies with lines around Liberty's face and inside the wreath on the reverse. Another scarce date.
