Byrd, Richard E (1888-1957) American naval officer, aviator, and explorer. Typed letter signed ("R.E. Byrd"), on "Byrd Antarctic Expedition" letterhead, 1p, 11 x 8½", On Lecture Tour, Dulith, Minnesota, Nov. 22, 1930. To Mrs. Paris, regretting that he cannot attend a luncheon in Philadelphia. A 1931 typed letter signed to Mrs. Paris from Paul A. Siple, a member of the expedition, regarding a medal made for him by the Junior Forum of Philadelphia. With a cover commemorating Little America Antarctica signed ("R.E. Byrd"), postmarked from New York City, Feb 19, 1930. Letters toned, else fine. (3 items).
