Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 2709
Original Series, $1 National Bank Note. The Home NB, Chicago, IL. PCGS Fine 15PPQ. Fr-382. . KL-1088. Only five large size notes are reported in the census from this bank that was chartered in 1872 and liquidated in 1897: three are Original series Aces and two are Lazy Deuces. This newly reported $1 is the only 1875 Series Ace known, and it is a lovely original example with pen signed signatures. Only $719 was outstanding on this bank in 1910.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Lot 2710
1875, $1 National Bank Note. The First NB, Selins Grove, PA. PCGS Very Good 10. Fr-384. . KL-1090. This is one of only two known Aces from this bank's 1875 issue, both of which are listed as VG in the census. The colors and inks on this note are remarkable for the grade, and the signatures are sharp. This note has the "blue end" paper that was used as a counterfeiting measure, which adds considerable aesthetic appeal even at this grade level.
Estimated Value $700 - 900.

1875, $1 National Bank Note. The National Eagle Bank, Boston, MA. PCGS Apparent Fine 15. Fr-384. . KL-1090. This Ace retains sharp pen signatures and excellent eye appeal for the grade. Unlike many First Charter notes from New England, this note has good margins and was not trimmed close to the design. A couple of small edge splits were noticed by PCGS Currency, but none adversely affects the overall eye appeal.
Estimated Value $600 - 800.

1882, $5 National Bank Note. The Larchmont NB, Larchmont, NY. PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ. Fr-477. . KL-1125. As pretty a note as one could imagine for the grade, this is just the second reported $5 Brown Back from here and only the third Brown Back of any denomination. The other $5 in the census is not listed by grade and the $10 is listed as a Fine, so this is very likely the single nicest Brown Back and maybe even the finest 1882 series note in existence from this one bank town. Fully original, with bold colors and fantastic eye appeal, a terrific note for a New York collector.

1882, $20 National Bank Note. The NB of Chester Valley, PA. PMG Fine 12. Fr-494. . KL-1259. This $20 Brown Back retains good color and clarity for the grade. Pen signatures add to the eye appeal, as well. A small split is noticed in the far left margin, but it affects nothing and does not diminish the note in any way. This is the first reported $20 Brown Back on the bank, and it is from a bank that is represented by only 13 notes in the current census tally.

1882, $20 National Bank Note. The First NB, Richmond, VA. PMG Good 4. Fr-494. . KL-1259.
