Lot 693
1785 Connecticut Miller 6.4-I Rarity-2 F15. Smooth glossy chocolate and light olive brown. Very attractive and nearly choice for this issue. The only defects are a few tiny planchet voids on the forehead, a couple longer ones in the center of the reverse, and a shallow planchet delamination before the shoulder of the seated figure. All these flaws are mint-made defects and the remainder of the planchet is choice. The bottom of the 1 in the date is off the planchet but everything else is complete and strong. LDS. Weight 127.1 grains.
Estimated Value $80-UP.

Lot 694
1787 Massachusetts Cent Ryder 2b-A Rarity-1. NGC graded EF-45. The "Horned Eagle" variety. Dark steel and olive with a swipe of reddish steel toning on the eagle's tail. Sharply struck but the surfaces are dull thanks to a layer of oxidation. May benefit from a proper brushing. No contact marks or other defects. Late die state with a strong "Horn" break (actually a small internal cud) up from the eagle's head. A sharp example of this popular variety. The "Horned Eagle" feature is noted on the NGC label.
Estimated Value $400-UP.

Lot 695
1786 Vermont Ryder-11 Rarity-4 VG7. Considerably sharper but the planchet displays minor roughness plus a few small planchet voids. No verdigris, and the only contact mark is a long nick on the shield. Most of the legend is visible but the upper half of INDE is off the planchet and none of the date shows. Chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. An imperfect but acceptable example of this tough variety, one that almost never comes without significant problems. Weight 120.4 grains.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
