British Prime Ministers, 1782-1957. Signatures of eleven (11) prime ministers who served between 1782 and 1957. They are Lansdowne (William Petty-Fitzmaurice), William Gladstone, Robert Peel, Lord Palmerston, H.H. Asquith, Avon (Anthony Eden), Earl Russell, Ramsay MacDonald, Stanley Baldwin, Alec Home, and Edward Heath. Some are signed on cards; some are cut from letters or documents; Peel signed a free franked address panel. With a printed card from Winston Churchill's secretary, regretting he "cannot do as you ask," and a card signed by the Earl of Halifax as British ambassador. Very good to fine.

Sadat, Anwar (1918-1981) President of Egypt (1970-81). He signed the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty in 1976, for which he and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin received the Nobel Peace Prize. As a result of his peace efforts with Israel, Sadat was assassinated by Egyptian Islamic extremists. Card with gold embossed eagle signed in Arabic in the upper right corner. Accompanied by a May 22, 1976 letter from Sadat's PR department enclosing President Sadat's signature and the transmittal envelope.

Tito, Josip Broz (1892-1980) Yugoslav statesman. Leader of Yugoslav resistance movement in World War II. First president of the republic of Yugoslavia (1953-1980). He established a policy of nonalignment with the West and the Soviet Union. 4 x 5¾ in. card signed in Cyrillic script, n.p., n.d., and accompanied by a January 17, 1977 letter from the Yugoslav embassy in Washington, D.C. enclosing the signed card. Fine.
