The denarii portraying Lucius Antonius, the youngest brother of Marc Antony, are seldom seen. Lucius was consul of Rome and allied himself to Marc Antony, and later pardoned by Octavian. This is a remarkable specimen.

Comemmorates Antony's travel to Armenia in 36 BC. Interestingly, on this particular die the "A" of "Antonius" is completely missing, apparently, a celator's oversight.

The unusual style of these portraits is due to the mint place, as well as to the haste of minting coinage at the beginning of the Triumvirate in the autumn of 43 BC, when this coin was struck. The portrayals on this example are excellent for issue, especially that of Julius Caesar.
