1793 C-3 R3. Good-5. Sharpness VG10, perhaps better on the obverse, but dark and lightly corroded. No verdigris or marks. The date is clear but parts of the reverse legend are gone thanks to the roughness. Rather glossy dark olive and steel.

1793 C-3 R3. Good-4. Glossy olive and chocolate brown. The surfaces are decent but not perfectly smooth, and there is a thin planchet lamination void slanting across the lower right part of the obverse. This thin fissure passes through the 3 in the date affecting the lower half of that numeral, but the rest of the date is easily readable. The legends are complete but not strong. The only contact mark of any significance is a nick or planchet chip in the leaves below the first T in STATES. Overall a very acceptable example for the grade.

1795 C-4 R3. VG-7. Variety with a punctuated date and plain edge. A point or two sharper on the obverse, but there is a dull scrape at D-S on the reverse and a small patch of very fine roughness near the rim before the chin. The only other defect is a bit of glue stuck around the date, but this could be removed without difficulty. Glossy steel brown and chocolate. The date is strong. LDS, Manley state 2.0.

1806 C-1 R1 Double Struck Reverse. ANACS graded VG-10. Sharpness VG10 but there are a few to many tiny nicks scattered over both sides for the sharpness grade. No corrosion or other defects. The obverse shows no evidence of being struck more than once, but the reverse shows sharp, clear evidence of being struck at least twice and some areas show triple striking. The double and triple striking shows around the wreath and on HALF CENT. Slightly glossy steel brown and chocolate. EAC grade net VG8. The ANACS label indicates the reverse was double struck.

There is a bit of friction on the highpoints, but otherwise this piece is choice in every respect. A very nice example of this popular Hard Times Token, the only half cent denomination in that popular series and a piece that's often collected as part of the regular Federal Half Cent series. EAC grade AU50 choice. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.

1837 Half Cent Token Low-49 Rulau HT-73. NGC graded MS-62 Brown. Frosty steel and light chocolate brown with a couple wisps of darker chocolate on each side and satiny luster in protected areas. Sharply struck and quite attractive. The head of the eagle is softly struck, as often seen, but the surfaces are free of any defects. Just a hint of wear on the highest points from mint state. Another very nice example of this popular Hard Times Token. An excellent addition to a high grade collection of Federal Half Cents. EAC grade AU50 choice. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.
