"Chuck". Playful Erotica from the 1930's. Lot of three watercolor and ink paintings on heavy paper of assorted mostly undressed women -- one titled, "Sun Bath," another, "Little Nell." These period pieces display an amusing naiveté. Largest work: 11" x 8". Lot of 3 paintings.

Gunn, Archie. Original Illustrations and Costume Designs, in Gouache. Charming figural renderings of pretty, or exotic, people in equally exotic costumes. In gouache and tints. Many are obviously costume studies for the theater. Others are straight illustrations, particularly the "pretty girls" for which the artist was noted. Renderings in various colors, on green or olive paper, nearly all signed. Many with further notes in pencil. Average size: 11" x 8-1/2".

Archie Gunn: painter, illustrator, etcher and teacher. Born in Taunton, England, in 1863, he later moved to New York, where his picture of ladies of fashion were a popular staple. Lot of 11 paintings.

Hom, Georg. Portrait of a Young Woman. Possibly painted on thin ivory sheet, c. 1900, the delicate likeness rendered in a stipple technique, which lends an airiness and feeling of light to the young woman's gaze. Signed at left, "HOM." Mounted as a gilt metal oval pendant, in its original leather (worn but sound) and velvet "traveling case/frame."

Georg Hom was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1838. He studied at the Staedelisch Institute under Jakob Becker (1853-1864), and was active in Frankfurt and from 1876 in Berlin. G.Hom was very popular as portraitist and genre painter, and was especially noted for his paintings with candlelight effects. He regularly exhibited at annual shows in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich.

Wilhelm, Arthur L. Original Illustrations and Costume Designs, in Water Color and Ink Wash. A group of delightful figural and costume studies for theatrical productions -- mostly for one entitled, "The White Ball," Rendered on large post card-sized boards, the works display vivid imagination and technical virtuosity. All are signed "Wilhelm, 1903."

American artist, born in Muscatine, Iowa, in 1881, he later attended the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1927, he was working in the St. Paul, Minnesota area.

Original Pen and Watercolor Fashion Illustrations, c. 1850s. An exquisite group of four illustrations meticulously drawn and painted on stiff cream board-paper, approximately 13" x 10" or 11" (images are approximately 10" x 8"). Two are group portraits of women in formal wear, each with a young girl, the third is of three gentlemen in full dress attire, and the fourth of a single lady with a parasol. These may have been used in Gody's, a lady's fashion magazine of the mid 19th century. Lovely!
