Lot 550
Navajo Weaving, Transitional Blanket. C. 1890-1915, 86" x 55", handspun wool, analine and natural dyes, with a very technical, diagonal weave and pattern in shades of red, green, yellow, orange, black, and beige. This blanket is also referred to as a "pound" rug because it comes from the era when traders would buy from the Navajos by the pound, accounting for its heavy weave and nature. A couple of small holes; overall very attractive.

This Navajo weaving was personally collected by theater and film producer and UCLA theater dean Kenneth MacGowan during his travels in the Southwest.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,500.
