1818 Coronet Head Cent. . N-10, R-1. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Lustrous light steel brown faded down from mint color, about half the mint red remaining on the obverse and 10% on the reverse. The only marks are a few specks of darker toning scattered about the obverse, none distracting. M-LDS. Most likely from thre famous Randall Hoard of mint state 1816-1820 cents discovered in a mint keg following the US Civil War and well dispersed over the years.

1821 Coronet Head Cent. . N-1, R-1. NGC graded Proof 61 Brown. Glossy light steel brown with chocolate brown toning on the highpoints and in protected areas. Faint peeps of very faded mint color can be found around some of the stars. There are traces of an old fingerprint in the field before the portrait, a small nick in the field over the bust tip, and a microscopic planchet void just left of the coronet tip. Sharply struck EDS. The fields are prooflike, hard and smooth offering excellent eye appeal. Called Proof by NGC, but the consensus among EAC experts is a prooflike early business strike. Regardless, this is a very attractive example of a date that's seldom found in the top grades. The NGC population is 1 in PF61 with none finer. The EAC grade is AU55.
