Coca-Cola: Three Original Promotional Pieces Pre-1910 Including the 1905 Lillian Nordica Calendar and Two Print Campaign Ads from 1906. Turn of the century materials from Coca-Cola have proven time and again some of the most prized of collectibles, not only for how scarce, but how beautiful their promotional items are. From printed calendars, tin coin and serving trays, and general advertising campaigns, Coca-Cola was one of the first to have celebrity representation such as stage actress and model, Hilda Clark, stage actress and in 1905/1909, Lillian Nordica, a powerful and hugely successful soprano.

Colors are fantastic but there is staining corner creasing and small tears at bottom of image. The November, 190s is just laid in frame to complete the look of the calendar and should be replace. Framed to 17 x 10 in an antique frame, the calendar while having flaws, displays well.
2.) Magazine ad (with addressee on label near dispenser) from June, 1906 promotes the relief of fatigue for men of all ages, and calms overwrought nerves without undue stimulation. 12 x 8.5", framed and matted to 15. 5 x 12" with colors surprisingly vibrant, the art itself very much of the time.
3.) Second magazine ad from 1906 with comedic stage actress Eddie Foy, again Coca-Cola extolling its ability for focus, energy and health 15 x 10" and framed to 18.5 x 14" with the ad showing possibly some light fading as the copy appears to be matching the pink of the dress. Greens, blues and blacks quite vibrant. Estimated Value $800 - 1,500

Theodore Seymour Hall: Photographs for An Unpublished Photobook Volume IV of Bunker Hill, Los Angeles, California: The Passing of an Era. Theodore Seymour Hall (1880-1963) an avid amateur photographer and resident of Bunker Hill, Los Angeles from 1938 to 1963. His photography has remained in the shadows, undigitized at the Huntington Library where his three self-published 11×14 photobooks in 1962-63 of various Bunker Hill scenes reside. These four (4) red boxes seem to contain the 11 x 14" black and white photographs for an unpublished Volume IV of Bunker Hill, Los Angeles, California: The Passing of an Era. The images are stark and moody, with deep contrasts between light and shadow, and a sense of grittiness that reflects the urban landscape of mid-century Los Angeles. Despite the decay of the neighborhood, there is also a sense of beauty in these photographs. The architecture of Bunker Hill's buildings is intricate and ornate, and the shadows and angles captured by Hall give the images a sense of drama and mystery.
The photographs are in overall fine condition with some curled edges from storage, very few show spotting or discoloration. Presented in 4 red boxes, presumably the original boxes from the developer. Estimated Value $400 - 500

Exceptional Antique Oval Shaker Pantry Box, Late 18th/19th Century. Round wood and oval boxes of the late 18th/19th Centuries were not invented by Shakers but without question, they improved greatly their construction. They preferred the oval construction and realized they could minimize the cracking, buckling and splitting of boxes due to the changes in temperature and humidity by having sides able to withstand the expansions and contractions. This was achieved by overlapping the bent wood body of the box and end with swallow tails or fingers extending further and subsequently nailed. Their lids fit tightly holding everything from dry goods to sewing materials.

Medium large box measuring 5.75 x 13 x 9", no evidence having been painted. Instead box enjoys a fantastic aged patina. There are simply no issues with this beautiful piece save for darkened areas inside and some scratches on underside. This is a wonderful example for any level of collector. "The Bible: Geneses From Creation until the Deluge" by Abel Pann. Complete Portfolio of 25 Original Signed Lithographs, 1924. Abel Pann's first set of original Biblical lithographs reproduced by the artist and printed on heavy hand-made paper at "the Graphica" issued by the Palestine Art Publishing Co. Ltd. Jersalem. All 25 lithographs are present with 23 having pencil signatures, one signed in plate and one with no signature. This hardcover elephant folio contains a full index of the lithographs, a publishers note, printed in both English and Hebrew and entitled "To the Subscribers" and reveals the difficulties bringing this phenomenal work to publication. 100 copies of this particular edition were printed of which this is #75.

"Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden", "And there was light", "And God made the lesser light", "And he took one of his ribs", "And Abel was keeper of the sheep", "Cain rose up against Abel his brother and slew him" are some of the titles of the engravings clearly listed from the Book of Genesis.

This volume is complete with evidence of wear, limited predominantly to tears, soiling and some separations to the front hardcover and spine. But the lithographs are in very fine condition with only a hint of toning to outermost edges, each separated by onion skin leaves. 16.75 x 12.25" and bound by string and tied. Many of these volumes have been destroyed by book dealers and galleries to present the lithographs for individual sale. Again, this edition is complete and a rare opportunity to purchase this historic publication in its complete form. Estimated Value $2,500 - 4,000

Shalom Moskovitz: Published Under Shalom of Safed. Six (6) Vintage Lithographs of Biblical Stories (1896-1980) Six very colorful, whimsical interpretations of Old Testament stories. These particular lithographs were signed in stone and published in NYC
The lithographs themselves within the black margins are in wonderful condition with vivid colors. Just outside the black lines a gallery "whited out" "Shalom of Safed, Signed in Stone Doron, N. Y. C." Attempts to remove the liquid paper correction fluid helped mitigate three of the lithographs, the others haven't been touched. Lithographs were previously matted with mounting tape discoloration at top left and right corners evident on each lithograph. All these issues are reconciled with fresh mats and framing and well worth the effort! Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000

Supremely Rare Oversized 1904 Coca-Cola Card Stock Sign of Lillian Nordica in Remarkable Condition. One of the most highly sought after and important pieces of Coca-Cola advertising from the early 20th Century. In the 1900s Coca-Cola aligned with the most popular opera singers of the time to market their product. It was felt these women brought the beverage the class and distinction to rise above other beverages. Lillian Nordica was selected for her acclaim on stage and opera where she proved a formidable force. In 1904, this dramatic and very Victorian style portrait was produced in several sizes. The 18 x 24 image is the one that has appeared in several auctions in the last 20 years. But this large 43 x 28.75" poster has not appeared in some time.

Condition: Outstanding. The poster has had no restoration whatsoever. There is very tiny flecking pretty much limited to the lower portion of the wardrobe screen with roses and the ribbon on her dress, and there is a hairline paper split in her face. Consignor was well aware of the leading paper conservation studios in California but decided to not engage in any touch-up, irrespective of how discrete. The result is an artifact from Coca-Cola's earliest days, supremely well kept, unrestored and going on nearly 120 years!

This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the single most premium examples of Coca-Cola's marketing history. We will be shipping without its frame to maximize safety in transportation. Estimated Value $10,000 - 15,000

Coca-Cola: Rare "Hilda with The Glass", or "Big Hilda": Large Oval Serving Tray, 1903 in Excellent Condition, Fresh Colors. Rare, antique Coca-Cola oval serving tray, the largest of the classic trays, measuring 15¼ x 18½" and manufactured by the Charles Shonk Company. Issued in 1903, tray is highly prized by collectors and is referenced as "Hilda with The Glass (Pewter Holder)" or "Big Hilda". Hilda is lovely with her rosy cheeks, the pastel colors in her dress, chrysanthemums surrounding her portrait and her glass of Coca-Cola, are all lovely.

There are just a minimum of tiny pits scattered throughout and just a very few scratches. The verso exhibits overall oxidation and two small spots can be seen on the right side outermost rim. Also on verso, consignor has a thin wire to hang tray using to small dollops of adhesive which proved quite fine way to display.
This is by any definition a treasure worthy of any level of collector. Estimated Value $3,500 - 5,000
