Lot 14
Roosevelt, Eleanor: Outstanding Secretarial Transcription for "My Day" On Her View of Union Strikers and Henry Ford in Presentation Frame. Single page, handwritten transcription of an important opinion for "My Day" dictated September 19, 1945 at Hyde Park (according to The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers, Digital Edition) "My View of Strikes" by Eleanor Roosevelt".

This is an extremely passionate, heartfelt and important document in support of workers and unions, the overreach of manufacturers, how it benefits both employers and laborers to come to terms with conditions/wage and directly mentions Henry Ford. Executed in steel point fountain pen and in excellent condition with only soft folds apparent.

18 x 8½ and framed with a photo to 19 x 23½" Typed version of transcription included.

Note: Eleanor Roosevelt wrote "My Day," a national syndicated newspaper column, from 31 December 1935 until 26 September 1962 (six days a week until January 1961, then three days a week thereafter). Thus "My Day" is the only consistent existing account of her public actions. The columns, while no means a complete record of ER's daily activities, do reveal much about whom she met, where she traveled, which books she read, which plays she attended, and how she handled the pressures of public life. Estimated Value $300 - 500
