Horse Racing: Vintage Original Pieces 1919-2010: Secretariat, Seabiscuit, Kentucky Derby, Bay Meadows, Willie Shoemaker TLS + More. Interesting collection of vintage original horse racing materials
1.) RARE, Original invitation to the Narragansett Driving Association in Providence, RI for the First Annual Meeting in 1883. According to NY Times' archive, 1500 people attended weather was muggy and wet, races postponed. 2.) From 1919, two copies of the Constitution of the State Order ANTI HORSE THIEF ASSOCIATION of the State of Illinois. Both intact, without folds or tears, 20pp and exactly the same text. The only difference is one printed in blue, the other tan. Excellent condition. 3.) Original button from the 1930s "Twenty Grand, A Winner". Twenty Grand was owned by NY socialite Helen Hay Whitney and won both the Derby and the Belmont but came in 2nd in the Preakness. 4.) San Mateo, California, Bay Meadows Official Race Program, May 8, 1941 with "Seabiscuit" on cover. In pencil, circled bets on all 8 races inside with odds, but adds immeasurable character. 5.) Water glass commemorating "Assault", the 1946 Kentucky Derby Winner and Triple Crown Winner from the famed King Ranch in Texas, ridden by legendary jockey, Eddie Arcaro.

7.) Secretariat "Big Red". Likely the greatest American Thoroughbred race horse of all time, his 1973 Belmont Stakes win for the Triple Crown one of the greatest sports moments of the 20th Century. Original 8¼ x 11¾ black and white photograph by Rolling Stone photographer, Ken Regan, known for his music and sports photographs. He was given unprecedented access at Belmont Park and Meadow Stables. Secretariat is photographed in his stable left photo. Regan stamp on verso.
8.) Typed letter signed by Willie Shoemaker, one of the all time great jockeys on par with Eddie Arcaro who still holds the world record for most races won. 9.) Superior ticket stub from the 120th Kentucky Derby won by "Go For Gin". 10.) Two color photos of champions. A.P. Indy second fastest running at Belmont Stakes and photo of Zenyatta at 2010 Apple Blossom Invitational Stakes and holds perfect record of 15 wins. Estimated Value $250 - UP
