Superior Collection of 277 Vintage Cuban Cigar Bands Beautifully Archived and in Excellent Condition with Many Quite Rare. Cuban cigar bands have a history reaching back to 1830 when Gustav Bock, a European immigrant to Cuba, invented the band. As bands became more prevalent and colorful cigar bands became popular, collectibles, most especially in the early 20th Century, became almost like trading stamps for prizes and merchandise. The Great Depression put an end to the widespread appeal, but for some collectors, the art and embossed bands maintained appeal. Further bands provided authenticity to the product, most especially when forgeries of certain brands became widespread.

Offered is a premium collection of 277 Cuban cigar bands (and 22 American). Bands are in exceptional condition and nearly a century of Cuba's history. Included are Los Reyes De Espana, Romeo y Julieta, Flor de Rodriguez, Hoyo de Monterrey, J. Montero y Co., F. G. Bances, Maria Guerrero, Calixto Lopez, Don Juaquin, Berwind, Cuban brands like La Corona and Romeo y Julieta who printed bands with logos of Shell, The Haban Yacht Club, Esso, Texaco, Empresso Naviera De Cuba, Club Martino, large band by Eden for New York State Bnakers, and Cristal Cerveza. Continuing, Sabatier, Czars, Maquesa, Cubas and many more. Do not hesitate to call or email for scans for a better evaluation.

All housed in a premium sleeved book, each with protective covers from Germany. Estimated Value $1,200 - UP

Exceptional Collection of 500+ Early 20th Century, Hand Tinted Cuban Cigar/Cigarette Photo Cards in Collectors Album, "Flor El Todo". Very impressive collection of 500+ hand tinted photo cards from Cuba dating to the early 20th Century. These were premiums that cigar companies rewarded their buyers with--a small gift with purchase. They became popular to collect at the time as was the case in America with their own versions. Companies then began providing albums for their collections.
But the US never produced premiums on the level that were produced in Cuba. High gloss 2¼ x 1¾" photo cards this collection which include women being courted, some adorable children, but the great bulk of women in costumes, dressed in their finest in big hats, and/or some in teasing, refreshingly risqué poses. Also a fascinating look at how the ideals of feminine beauty have changed……dramatically. Cards are in a fine of condition as any collector could want all having been tipped into the pages instead of with adhesive. Very few duplicates. Cover of album has detached but present. Very nice pieces here. Estimated Value $600 - UP

Two Cuban Albums Original Cloth Bound Collector Books: Hand-Tinted Photos (ca. 1910-20) and One History of Cuba (1935) Sepia-Tinted. OBSEQUIO DE LA FABRICA DE CIGARRILLOS LA LEGITIMIDAD DE LA HABANA A SUS FAVORECEDORES A collection of 350+ hand tinted photo cards, premiums when purchasing cigars from the La Ligitimidad Co. Nothing like these were printed in the US. These are high gloss, hand tinted photos 2¼ x 1¾" and with the focus on women. Yes there are some charming photos of men courting women in highly stylized scenes, and wonderful images of young children with their toys and pets. But the great majority are the beauties of the era posing in costumes, neo-classical dress and in some cases early effects photography as if the woman was part of a flower. Some are risqué but still quite innocent. On the whole, the photos are lightly tacked in on verso if someone wanted to remove and sleeve individually it is possible with care. Several duplicates.

The second album "Historia de Cuba": Unique publication by Cigarros La Corona from 1935 of a pictorial history with text of Cuba, the photos themselves coming in the form of collectible trading cards. Near complete and those few missing having copies of the actual photos missing. Not all the photos are portraits of historic figures, but images of ships and ports. 540 sepia photo and 60 facsimiles. In very good condition, note cover of album present but detached.

Perfect for collectors of Tobacciana or historic Cuban ephemera. Very good condition. Estimated Value $500 - UP
