ARAB-BYZANTINE: 680-695 AD. AE Fals (4.5 g). Mint of Damascus. Emperor enthroned holding medium length cross and globus cruciger, cresent above T left, Greek ΛEO right. Reverse: Large M with Islamic inscription around with the mint name below the M in Arabic (Dimashq). Cf. AI. 3511.1. Excellent contrasting earthen patina. Rare in this high grade. Extremely Fine. ARAB-BYZANTINE: Abd al-Malik, ca. 692-697. AE Fals (5.3 g). Al-Ruha Mint, ND, A-3538. The full obverse inscription surrounding the standing caliph "la ilaha illa Allah wahdahu Muhammad rasul Allah" ('There is no God but God alone; Muhammad is the messenger of God'). The normal inscription from this mint has only "Muhammad rasul Allah" ('Muhammad the Messenger of God'). Extremely Rare, probably the finest of only three known examples of this obverse type and the second example in private hands. Apparently, Goodwin knew of only the specimen in the ANS collection. Superb Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $1,500 - UP

Bust of St. Peter facing, nimbate, with curly hair and a short, curly beard, wearing tunic, raising hand in benediction and holding cross. Reverse: B / H / M / T within angles of cross pommetée and fleuronée (Cross of the Tree of Life). CCS 1. Metcalf 47-8. Very Rare. Remarkably clear for the issue. Attractive earthen brown patina.
