Lot 703
1877-S. PCGS graded MS-60. A nice untoned coin and a solid example of this condition rarity. Only a couple of coins are noted finer in the PCGS Population Report, and any Mint State example of this tough date is a great rarity. Scattered light handling marks are present, to be expected for the grade, but the depth of Liberty's curls and the unbroken luster speak for themselves. If you demand one of the finest around, and a classic condition rarity, then here is one to pursue. Only 26,700 struck of which perhaps 300 survive today in all grades. Pop 1; 3 finer, 1 in 61, 1 in 62, 1 in 64. (PCGS # 8344) Estimated Value $6,000 - 6,500

Lot 705
1907. NGC graded Proof 66 Cameo. A blazing bright and well contrasted proof cameo coin. This was struck a year before the long running Liberty half eagle series came to an end in 1908, and were first launched in 1839. The gold half eagles were the backbone of our banking system along with the half dollarsall through the 19th Century. These two coins comprised the majority of the bank reserves and were some of the more commonly seen coins in circulation. The few gold proofs struck in any given year were highly prized at the time and today are eagerly sought after by collectors. When found in exceptional condition like this, and with the Cameo contrast, there are few coins more dramatic in appearance. A condition rarity too! Only 92 pieces struck. Pop 5; 4 finer for PRCA, 3 in 67, 1 in 67 Star. (PCGS # 88502) Estimated Value $30,000 - UP
