Walking Liberty Half Dollars

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 304
1917-D. Mint mark on obverse. NGC graded MS-65. Nice even light gold and russet toning. Very choice with a fairly sharp strike on all but the central devices which are a trifle soft. This is the second year of issue of this series, and was struck early in the year when the mintmarks were still placed on the obverse below the Motto. A glorious example of this prized Denver issue! Pop 52; 4 finer in 66. Estimated Value $5,000 - UP

Lot 305
1921-D. PCGS graded MS-64+. Well struck and mostly untoned. Sure looks MS-65 and should be send back for reconsideration. The obverse fields and devices are exceptionally clean and attractive. The strike is fairly sharp too, with stong definition on each and every device. The mintage for the year came in at 208,000 pieces that were released for circulation, which is the lowest mintage of the series. Rarely are these found so attractive and technically so splendid. A lovely example of this prized issue! Pop 10; 38 finer, 32 in 65, 3 in 65+, 3 in 66. (PCGS # 6584) Estimated Value $14,000 - 15,000

Lot 306
1936. PCGS graded Proof 67. CAC. A flashy white gem. The strike is bold throughout as expected for a Proof, but add to that the exceptional quality here and you have one of the finest seen of this first year of Proofs struck after a long hiatus at the Mint. Rarely are these early Walking Liberty half dollars found in with such virtually perfect preservation. Sure looks better than the assigned grade. Only 3,901 struck. Pop 56; 8 finer, 7 in 67+, 1 in 68+. (PCGS # 6636) Estimated Value $7,500 - UP
