He was the chief architect of Soviet totalitarianism, killing millions of his own people through bloody purges, while creating a mighty military-industrial complex, taking the Soviet Union into the nuclear age. Typed document signed "J. Stalin" in Cyrillic script, 11 pp, 12 x 8¼", April 4, 1938. The document is titled "Protocol No. 2 - Meetings of the RKKA Main Military Council" for the date range March 29-April 1. The content pertains to the preservation of necessary supplies of ammunition, weapons, food, fuel, etc., within the district. Stalin signed vertically on the first page at top left in blue indelible pencil, which he also used to underline and highlight passages within the text. The document is signed at its conclusion by Voroshilov as President of the Committee, and countersigned by Shaposhnikov as Secretary. The pages are stapled together along the left edge, which also has small file holes. Overall toning; the first page is detached with a ½" tear (repaired with archival tape on verso) touching the first letter of Stalin's surname. Very good condition. Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
