  1883 Liberty Nickel. Without "CENTS". NGC graded MS-65. Trivial specks on the reverse, and the obverse has a faint planchet streak. First year of issue, and an important type coin. Nicely struck by the dies, and most of the luster remains.

1885 Liberty Nickel. NGC graded Proof 66. The key date to the series, and Proofs are easier to locate than high grade circulated examples. Here is a nice one, Liberty's head has a large dollop of toning in her hair into the stars above, otherwise the surfaces are nickel blue. The reverse is similar, but entirely blue in hues.

  1885 Liberty Nickel. MS-60+. This one has nice surfaces for the grade, a few minor hairlines, but they are toned over with familiar nickel gold colors. Bright luster in the fields and well preserved aside from the hairlines. The key date to the series, mintages plunged on minor coinage while the Philadelphia Mint closed down production on February 16, 1885 through nearly the end 1886.

1886 Liberty Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. One of the key dates and rare this nice. This one has delicate gold toning on both sides and we see a few faded specks on the left of the reverse denomination. Great luster and strike, and handling marks and hairlines are at a minimum.
