1929, $10 National Bank Note. First NB of Cherokee, Kansas. Fr-1801-1. KL-1243. S-2067. Type 1. Charter # 5447. Serial # E000586A. This town, located in Crawford County, dates from 1870, when the Kancas City, Fort Scott and Gulf Railroad was being built. Initally the site was donated to the railroad and laid out as a railroad supply point. The fertile farmland in the area eventually encouraged settlements to occur. This bank was established in 1900 and succeeded the Cherokee State Bank. The bank went into receivership in 1932, after lasting long enough to issue some of the small size notes. This pleasing example was signed by J.H. Sharp and Wm. Loyd Chadsey. There are only 10 small notes reported. Very Fine. Estimate Value $500 - 600
