1865 Liberty Seated Half Dime. VF-20. One of the really low-mintage dates of the Civil War, this 1865 should bring a strong price for its clean surfaces and original toning. Only 13,500 struck, most of which were melted, lost or just plain worn out.

Lot 511
1866 Liberty Seated Half Dime. EF-45. A classic rarity in the half dime series, this 1866 boasts a mintage of 10,725 in all, few of which even approach a decent grade, let alone a nice EF grade. This one is lightly toned with hues of gold around the periphery. The strike is bold, with full details on Liberty's head, the wreath and all the peripheral lettering.

Lot 513
1866-S Liberty Seated Half Dime. VF-35. Lightly cleaned, enough so to take away the toning and expose the circulation marks common to small silver coins in this grade. Lustrous and a coin that should retone nicely if given a chance.

Lot 514
1867 Liberty Seated Half Dime. EF-45. Here is the queen of the half dime series, the 1867. 8,000 were coined for circulation, scarcely enough to bag and ship, as very little silver was found to coin just after the Civil War drew to a close. The obverse has deep blue toning in the shape of a crescent moon on the right side, with medium gold color over Liberty. The reverse has little toning, and this coin must have been displayed obverse up for decades in an old style coin tray. Rare and desirable in this grade. Date collectors have to search long and hard to find one this nice, so expect to pay a premium and be glad if you're the lucky winner of this lot.
