Lot 672
1876. PCGS graded MS-66. Here is one of the rarest dates of the series and one of the finest known too. The fields are fully prooflike with nice golden toning, and the surfaces are essentially perfect in their preservation. It is most curious that although 1876 is our Centennial year in this country, some coinage denominations were issued in tiny numbers. For 1876, only 3,200 Gold dollars were struck, and this is one of the finer ones. A couple of thin adjustment or roller lines are noted on the reverse from the lower left side up into the date, not affecting the all important 6. A numismatic delight! Pop 5; 5 finer, 2 in 66+, 3 in 67. (PCGS # 7577) Estimated Value $9,000 - UP

Lot 673
1888. PCGS graded Proof 65+ Cameo. CAC. PQ. A blazing white cameo proof that displays bold contrast between the frosted devices and the perfectly smooth mirrored fields. This is James B. Longacre's Indian Princess design, which was quite popular in the day. It was somewhat of a stretch to show Liberty wearing an Indian Headdress, but in this case the design is quite elegant. This one was struck near the tail end of production for the Gold dollar, and was clearly saved carefully over the ensuing years. Only 1,079 struck. Pop 2; 12 finer for PRCA, 8 in 66, 3 in 67, 1 in 67+. (PCGS # 87638) Estimated Value $8,000 - UP
