Einstein, Albert--14 Months Before the Hindenburg Disaster, Einstein Writes: "I don't believe at all in the value of Airships as opposed to Airplanes". (1879-1955) German-born physicist who developed the theory of relativity. Typed letter signed "A. Einstein," one-half page, in German, 11 x 8½", on his blind embossed Princeton, NJ stationery, March 20, 1936. To Harry Gordon, Bronx, New York, advising him to avoid an investment scheme in blimps: "Sehr geehrter Herr: Lassen Sie Ihre Hände und Ihren Geldbeutel davon. Es ist alles nur Reklame! An die technische Bedeutung des Luftschiffes im Gegensatz zum Flugzeug glaube ich durchaus nicht. Mit ausgezeichneter Hochachtung A Einstein."

Translation: "Dear Sir, Keep your hands and your money away from it. It is only advertising. I don't believe at all in the value of Airships as opposed to Airplanes. Best regards, A. Einstein"

Einstein was correct in his assessment. Just 14 months later, the Hindenburg crashed at Lakehurst, NJ. -- the worst Airship disaster in history.
