Great Britain. Proof Crown, 1932. S.4036; ESC-372; Dav-110; KM-836. George V, 1910-1936. 'Wreath' type. Obverse: Bare head of King left. Reverse: Large crown enclosed within wreath of thistles and roses. Designers initials K.G. (Kruger Gray) below. A very rare date in any grade. Only 2,395 pieces made, and many were melted or circulated. Mirror fields and lightly frosted design. A study of the coin - especially the crown on the reverse will show striking detail far superior to that of a normal currency piece. Very rare. In a new NGC 4 prong holder. NGC graded Proof 62.

Lot 3447
Great Britain. Crown, 1936. S.4036; Dav-110; ESC-381; KM-836. George V, 1910-1936. Head of King facing left. Reverse: Large crown enclosed within a wreath of thistles and roses. Designer's initials K.G. (Kruger Gray) below. NGC graded MS-62.

'Wreath' Crown enthusiasts will know that the 1936 is extremely rare in mint state, and this coin is a particularly attractive example, bathed in a delightful golden green tone, with the overall look of a satin finish specimen. Only 2473 Crowns were struck bearing this date and therefore it is the third rarest Crown of the century. Very underrated.
Estimated Value $1,100 - 1,300.

Great Britain. Maundy Set, 1953. S.4126; KM-MDS212. Elizabeth II, 1952 -. Obverse: Mary Gillick's young portrait of Queen. Obverse lettering style unique to 1953 coinage. This is a very rare one-year-type Maundy Set struck for the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth and distributed by the new Queen at St Paul's Cathedral in London. By far the rarest Maundy coins of the 20th century. For some reason the 1953 set is often scuffed or mishandled, but this is a pristine group in mint state. Comes with original Royal Mint box. Lot of 4 coins. NGC graded Penny, MS-63, 2 Pence NGC graded MS-64; 3 Pence NGC graded MS-65; 4 Pence NGC graded MS-66.
