1793 S-4 R3 Chain AMERICA with Periods PCGS graded Poor-01. Rather glossy chocolate brown with slightly lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints. No roughness or verdigris, only some rim bruises on the upper part of the reverse. Basically just a heavily worn Chain Cent. The date and most of the legends are gone, but the chain is complete and there are sufficient details remaining to positively attribute it as the S-4 Periods variety. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade.

1793 S-9 R2 Wreath Cent PCGS graded F12. Vine & Bars Edge. Rather glossy medium chocolate brown with darker olive brown toning covering the protected areas on both sides. The two-tone appearance accents the devices and adds to the eye appeal. The highpoints are smooth but the protected areas are covered with microscopic roughness. No marks or verdigris. The date is easily readable and the legends are complete. E-MDS with a light die crack through CA in AMERICA. Our grade is VG10 sharpness net VG8. A decent Wreath Cent for the grade.

1793 S-11b R4 Lettered Edge PCGS Genuine, XF Details, Damage. Variety with 2 leaves following DOLLAR. Olive and chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. Covered with fine to moderate roughness mixed with patches of shallow reddish crust on both sides, mostly on the reverse. No notable contact marks. The date is strong and the legends are complete, although the roughness weakens a few elements on the reverse. Nicely struck E-MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks at the throat and neck. The edge lettering and two leaves following DOLLAR are bold. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VG10. The Lettered Edge feature is noted on the PCGS label.

1793 S-11b R4 Lettered Edge G4+. Variety with 2 leaves following DOLLAR. Choice glossy light to medium chocolate brown with smooth surfaces. The only marks are a few light rim nicks on both sides, none notable. The obverse is slightly better than the reverse, which is typical of these lettered edge varieties. The date and LIBERTY are easily readable but parts of the legend on the reverse are worn into the rim. Overall very nice for the grade, close to G5. The edge lettering is complete and strong, and the two leaves following DOLLAR are bold.
