Solid Serial Numbered Notes

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 122
$1 FRN A11111111B. A terrific $1 1969D Federal Reserve Note bearing the ultra desirable solid serial #A11111111B graded PCGS 64 PPQ. Solid 1's printed on the #1 district. Three years ago this note might bring $1800 to $2000. Today we expect that price to double.or more. Estimated Value $2,400 - 4,500
The demand for solid serial numbered small and large size notes has absolutely gone wild over the year. Multiple new bidders have entered the marketplace and are willing to pay prices that continue to break precedence. If you doubt this, check the auction results we've included in the preface of this sale. These bid results are consistent with other auction appearances of solid serial numbered banknotes with other auction houses.

Choice CU $1 1993 FRN B11111111B. Wonderful $1 1993 FRN with coveted matched block letters B11111111B, grade PMG 64 EPQ Choice Uncirculated. Estimated Value $2,400 - 4,500
Multiple collector are stretching to new heights to buy up every district matching solid serial number they can locate. A-A, B-B, C-C, D-D, etc. are brining 25% to 100% premiums over what a random block letter combination will bring today. This note should be no exception.
This note has an oversized top margin. On a different day we could easily see this note receive a 65Q grade.

Gem Pack s/n C11111101* to C11111200*. Beautifully centered, pristinely fresh pack of 100 $1 1999 FRNs from serial #C11111101* to C11111200*. The pack contains the C11111111*, C11111112* to C11111119*, C11111101* to C11111191* and more. The pack has been carefully preserved and never handled. You could mail it into PCGS for their relatively new pack grading service. We think it will grade Gem Uncirculated. Estimated Value $12,000 - 20,000
I bought this pack from a 40 year armored car employee back in late 2017 and it was one the highlights he had found over 40 years of looking through billions of dollars of new banknotes over his career. He felt this amongst the best of the best of his finds over his career.
Our low bid estimate is likely far too low. Can you recall ever seeing another intact solid serial numbered star pack?

Solid # B22222222 STAR on the #2 district. This well worn but honestly circulated $1 1963A FRN #B22222222* has been graded PCGS 15 Apparent. Don't let the grade concern you on this rarity because only a handful of solid serial numbered star notes have ever been auctioned in the past five decades. I sold this note for $1800 five years ago and regretted letting it go at that price. Estimated Value $2,400 - 4,500
Rare as hen's teeth comes to mind with this note. Clearly it escaped into circulation and like stayed there for the better part of two years. But if you're seeking out rarity in special serial numbers, not much beats a solid #22222222 on the #2 district with the district matching B prefix on a STAR note.

$1 1995 Federal Reserve Note, serial number F22222222*. This is a centerpiece of the Lunchbox Journey Collection: a $1 1995 Federal Reserve Note, serial number F22222222* graded PCGS 65 PPQ. This note and the next lot sold together with the next lot in 2001 at $15,000. That was 21 yeas ago. Expect bidders to push the final price for this set well past that price point. Estimated Value $25,000 - 45,000
This amazing note and its teammates in the next lot comes from Mike Abramson's Fixed Price List in the Fall of 2001 from the Kevin Longergan Collection. At the time he stated that he believed there were only two solid serial #22222222 STAR notes, with this $1 1995 F22222222* and the other being a $1 1963A G22222222*. The Baeder census shows two additional 2222222*'s: $1 1963A B22222222* offered in today's sale and the 1963A E22222222*.
This note is so incredibly rare because the BEP rarely prints any STAR serial number above 20000000. This specimen is likely the finest of the four known 22222222*s.

  F22222220* to F22222229*. This is a set of nine $1 Federal Reserve Notes, all graded PCGS 65 PPQ, from 1995 including F22222220*, F22222221*, F22222223*, F22222224*, F22222225*, F22222226*, F22222227*, F22222228*, and F22222229*. Nine gems to accompany the F22222222* offered in the previous lot. Estimated Value $2,000 - 4,000
This serial number group is so incredibly rare because the BEP rarely prints any STAR serial number above 20000000. We believe the Baeder census is accurate stating that only four serial #22222222* have been privately sold or auctioned off. No serial #33333333 stars are known.

$2 2003A FRN B22222222A. The lightly circulated $2 2003A FRN boasts solid 2's on the #2 District on a $2 Bill. Wow!!! PMG graded 40 Extra Fine. Here is the census of known solid serial numbered notes on series 1976 to 2013 (excluding the lucky numbers 88888888 BEP printed for sale), 1976 - 11 known, 2003 - 1 known, 2003A - 1 known, 2009 - 2 known and 2013 -1 known. There are two known B22222222As, this note and the $2 2009 B22222222A. This note has been graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $12,000 - 24,000
At past auctions we've seen $2 FRN solid serial numbers bring anywhere between $2,500 twenty years ago to $17,300 in 2012. Only today's bidders can determine the final price for this finest known example. To attract multiple bidders we are starting the opening bid at an extremely low level. We wouldn't be surprised if the hammer fell at price far in excess of our high estimate. We note that in September 2021 the D22222222A graded PMG 63EPQ is being offered on the internet by a well known dealer at $16,800. Our bid range should be ultra conservative.
Remember this is Solid Serial Number 22222222 on the #2 district on a $2 bill. In a typical year over 100 $1 notes are printed for every $2 note, and 100 $100 notes are printed for every $2 FRN produced. To add to the rarity of this note, some 90% of $2 FRNs printed are shipped overseas. As you might know, most cash register drawers in the United States aren't equipped to hold $2 bills.
