Lot 343
1879. NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo. A lovely superb gem cameo proof. A white coin with just a few traces of pale gold toning starting to form. The surfaces are pristine, with no signs of handling or scuffs on the delicate frost over the devices. Booming contrast between the mirror fields and the frosted devices, which creates strong visual appeal. The Trade dollars of 1878 were only struck in the proof format, as demand for this coin overseas and at home dwindled abruptly. Proofs continued to be struck through 1885. Only 1,541 struck. Pop 17; 10 finer for PRCA, 4 in 67 Star, 1 in 68, 5 in 68 Star. Estimated Value $15,000 - UP
