René Lalique, Pair of Large Quail, Both Signed. Pair of the very popular, Lalique crystal quail with the tallest at 7" and the shorter 5½". Both are signed Lalique France but the more upright quail is a vintage production, after 1945 with Lalique and France etched in capital letters. The other is etched in the cursive font style. To that end, the older piece has a darker shade than the petite brighter one which is also lightly frosted. Going with the idea of a male and female this works much better over them both having exactly the same tones. Likely this also speaks to the older version being Lalique glass, the other Lalique leaded crystal. The two pieces are mint, but the older quail has one or two hairline table scratches on underside of base which would of course be normal. Interesting paring. Estimated Value $400 - UP
