$5 National Bank Note. Meriden NB of Meriden, CT. Ch. 1382. Fr. 587. PMG Very Fine 25 Net. Meriden lies halfway between Hartford and New Haven. There are only three Red Seals currently known on this institution, with the other two notes serial number one notes. Rust is noted at each end of the note from old paperclips. This is otherwise a lovely and pleasing example with great stamped signatures of W. M. Quested as Cashier and George Clark as President. These two served together from 1905 until 1914. $5 National Bank Note. Central NB, Lynn, MA. Ch. 1201. Fr. 590. PMG Very Fine 20. Located in Essex county, the Central National Bank would become the third of eventually eight banks to charter in town. This is the only Date Back Five known out of 15 large notes reported. A lovely mid-grade example with a couple of minor spots noted. Estimated Value $350 - UP

1914 $100 Federal Reserve Note. St. Louis. Fr. 1112. PCGS-C Very Choice Unc 64PPQ. Likely one of the highest graded $100 St Louis notes known, as the PMG census reveals they have only graded one each in 64, 64 EPQ and 65 EPQ. The last appearance of this note was in a 1997 CAA auction where they called this Very Choice at the time. A note sure to see spirited bidding. Estimated Value $3,500 - UP

1905 $20 Gold Certificate. Fr. 1179. PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ. Last appearing in a 2002 auction, this gorgeous Technicolor has dark red overprints of the seal and serial contrasting against the gold undertint on the face, with the back retaining its rich orange color. As of this writing, PMG has graded 115 examples of this scarcer Friedberg number, with this one of only 11 notes to be awarded the EPQ designation, owing to the note's originality. A slightly overlooked rarity, as each of the 1906 series notes numbers only in the hundreds, and those in Uncirculated are quite rare when compared to the common 1922 issue that followed.
