Roman Masterpiece: Bronze Oil Lamp, ca. 1st Century BC - 1st Century AD in Choice Condition. Museum quality antiquity depicting the head of a Roman Goddess with hair in tight curls pulled into a headdress on the graceful handle having exceptionally realistic details. A filling hole in the shape of a grape cluster is incised through the center with a round orifice for illumination at lamp's contoured tip. A circular base over which the weight of the lamp is concentrated is situated underneath giving the lamp remarkable stability. This fabulous ancient oil lamp is embellished with a stunning natural fine dark green and reddish-brown patina. A signature piece for any private or public collection.

Cypro-Mycenaean Pottery: Large Polychrome Amphora, Pigments Well Preserved and in Near Choice Condition. Ancient Cyprus was at the crossroads of the world and the island went through periods of a variety of cultural influences. From 700-600 B.C. the consistent pottery style is on full display with this wonderful piece. A beautiful polychrome amphora decorated with bands of red and black paint, the pigments strikingly well preserved. Overall this piece is in outstanding condition. We note one inch area of restoration on the edge of the mouth expertly done, as well as two much smaller chips and a small chip to base. But the entire body is intact and unrestored. Greek Bronze Pilos Helmet of Conical Form With Cheek Flaps, Outstanding Display Piece. Hellenistic period circa 4th-3rd century B.C. By the end of the 5th century B.C. this style of helmet was adopted by the Spartans and became a popular infantry helmet. The perforation holes present were intended to hold woven horse hair or similar material for comfort. In choice condition with fine dark green and brown patina. Egyptian (Possibly Iranian) "Molar Flask" 9th-10th Century with Thick Iridescence. This small bottle probably mold-blown then faceted and linear cut made of opaque glass. This bottles proved a popular shape for glass cosmetic containers used in medieval Egypt. Commonly referred to as "molar flasks," these vessels' shape is thought to resemble a tooth. The four "feet" function as a tiny pedestal for the miniature flask, which would have been filled with various cosmetics, including kohl (a black unguent used as an eyeliner) and essential oils to perfume the body.
9th -10th century. 6.3cm, has chip to one foot as found, no repairs, its visual appeal greatly enhance with its thick layer of iridescence. Estimated Value $200 - 400

Egypt. Ptolemaic Kingdom. Arsinöe II, Wife of Ptolemy II. Gold Octadrachm. 22" Pendant Necklace with 22kt Yellow Gold Bezel and Rope Chain. Struck in Alexandria, under Ptolemy VI-VIII, Ca 170-116 B.C. Diademed and veiled head of Arsinöe II right, "K" behind. Reverse double cornucopia bound with fillet.
Ten years after Ptolemy II married his beautiful and ambitious sister Arsinöe, she took control over her brother and became the real power behind the throne. When she died in 270 B.C., she was raised to the status of a goddess, establishing the worship of her throughout the Egyptian provinces. She was arguably the most powerful and influential queen of the Ptolemaic dynasty. She became the avatar of Isis-Aphrodite and the ultimate source of the Ptolemaic bloodline.

Important Collection of Greek, Judea, Roman, Byzantine and Early Islamic Weights 90+ Pieces. Taking years to assemble, a wonderful collection of ancient lead and bronze weights. Included are early Islamic bronze weights (750-1050 AD) in round and barrel shapes of different sizes, some with etched designs. There are three small Byzantine squares each with very appealing detail work, a collection of 15 Greek, Judean, Byzantine and Early Islamic weights in round, tubular and kettle ball shaped weights many with etched designs. Twelve Greek lozenge or football shaped lead weights are also included, one with interesting raised designs as well as larger weights including one handball sized round weight, with a small section broken off, three bell shaped bronze weights, one tubular weight, bronze ring weights most intriguing, 5 Roman bronze head weights.
