Lot 2319
1921 Missouri Half Dollar, 2 x 4. PCGS graded MS-63 Premium Quality. Mostly white in color with delicate rose and blue hints near the periphery. A glass will note a few trivial handling marks, nothing deep or problematic, keeping this coin at the high end of the choice class. Nice luster and appealing for the grade.
The Missouri Commemorative is one of the earlier issues (1921), coins with 2X4 are scarce, only 5,000 were minted, and most show moderate to heavy handling marks. The 2X4 stands for Missouri being the 24th state to enter the union. On the obverse, the stern skin capped man represents Daniel Boone, and on the reverse, the frontiersman represents the white settlers entering Missouri while directing the Native American away, in this case further west.
Estimated Value $500 - 600.

The reverse toning is more organized, with just a bit of blue and gold toning through the peripheral lettering, with most of the reverse bright white. All fields show excellent luster, and the strike is typically bold. PCGS has graded 281 this high, with only 176 graded higher. One of the more difficult commemoratives to find in gem condition, and this one will dazzle the eye without breaking the wallet.
