Very Fine Late 19th Century English School -- Artist's Name Illegible -- Bath Day for the Family Dog. Bath Day Late 19th Century English School, oil on canvas. Signed but artist's hand illegible. However due to the manufacturer of the stretched canvas stamped on verso W. URQUHART/ 157, HIGH STREET/ NOTTING HILL GATE/ 327, EDGWARE RD, LONDON W. we can date this work at about 1892-1895 based on the database of the National Portrait Gallery of British Art Suppliers 1650-1950. Here is a wonderful domestic scene of a woman having heated up a large pot of water on the fire in order for the boy to give the dog a bath. Oil on canvas boasts wonderful details, the worn apron, the cherubic faces, and the absolutely great detail of the tub and adorable dog. Canvas measures 16 x 21" framed to 26 x 30". We have a second painting in the auction by this artist; they would make a superb pair. Antique gilt wood frame has some dings, paint loss and minor repair but compliments the work nicely. However due to the manufacturer of the stretched canvas stamped on verso W. URQUHART/ 157, HIGH STREET/ NOTTING HILL GATE/ 327, EDGWARE RD, LONDON W. we can date this work to about 1892-1895 based on the database of the National Portrait Gallery of British Art Suppliers 1650-1950. A charming work, a dedicated schoolmaster is tutoring a young lad likely having a problem solving a bit of arithmetic. Canvas measures 17 x 21" and is framed in gilt wood to 26 x 30". Frame has had some chips repaired and touch-up but overall compliments this 120 year work quite nicely. Artwork itself has been maintained beautifully and in excellent condition. Vlasov, Vladimir -- Paired Still Life Paintings, Both Oil on Paper (1927 -1999) Vladimir Vlasov was born in Odessa and studied at the Odessa Art College in 1942-1947 and at the Moscow Art Institute/Surikov Institute in 1947-1953. Vlasov started exhibiting in 1953 and quickly gained prominence with his impressionism. Offered are two small still life paintings 8 x 6¼" and 5½ x 8¼". A wine bottle pitcher, bowl and soup pot atop a table and the other, a large handled pitcher atop a table. Both compliment each other beautifully and are immensely appealing. Shipped to us removed from frame both are in very fine condition with just a bit flecking where originally matted. Wonderfull pieces. Estimate Value $500 - UP

Westchiloff, Constantin Alexandrovitch -- Acclaimed Early 20th Century Russian/American Painter. Rocky Seascape Constantin Alexandrovitch Westchiloff (1877-1945) was born in Russia in 1877, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg; as an artist he traveled extensively in Europe and in the USA. He finally settled in New England, where he died in 1945. Westchiloff is best-known for his seascapes (particularly of the New England coastline), but was also well regarded for his landscapes, portraits and figures. Offered is such a seascape, a sunrise just peaking from the horizon, the colors reflected in the ocean capturing perfectly the beauty and light that can be found on the New England coast. Canvas measures 16 x 28", framed in its original gilt wood, antique frame to 21 x 33". Painting is in excellent condition; wood frame has minor chips, not unusual given the age. Wonderful 1835 Original Portrait of G. Foote Leathatt. 1835 Original Portrait of G. Foote Leathatt. Original oil painting a classic portrait of the gentleman, G. Foote Leathatt. We cannot find anything regarding this individual but on verso affixed to canvas is and handwritten note on laid paper that reads "Intended for the likeness of G. Foote Leathatt by Ramsey July 16, 1835. Oil on canvas 14 x 10½" framed in gilt wood to 19 x 16". Painting very well done, exhibiting minor crazing given its 181 years. $400 - 600. Estimate Value $350 - UP
